The Stehekin River is hidden away in a pristine valley in the North Cascades at the head of Lake Chelan.
In late summer the Kokanee (landlocked sockeye salmon) leave the lake and crowd into the Stehekin River to spawn. Trophy-sized rainbow and cutthroat trout follow them in to feed on salmon eggs and late summer insect hatches. As a result, the Stehekin offers some of the best dry-fly-fishing in Washington State.
